Mary Earps, born March 7, 1993, is an English professional footballer, who plays as a goalkeeper for Manchester United in the Women’s Super League and the England national team.

She began playing football as a youngster, after spotting her brother and Dad kicking a football around the garden – and a keen Earps wanted to join because "it looked fun".

Earps told England Football this was the moment "that was the beginning of a love story.’’

In December 2023, BBC Sport announced the shortlist for the Sport’s Personality of the Year Award – and one notable name to make the cut was Mary Earps.

Prior to her nomination, Earps picked up the gong for the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year in November 2023.

The Manchester United Women's star also picked up the Fifa Best Women's Goalkeeper award.

Aside from sporting success, Earps has also found social media success.

The sports star is known as the 'TikTok Queen' among her peers, drawing more than one million followers to her account thanks to her hilarious and heartwarming videos – which pal and fellow football star Millie Bright is often roped into.

Which teams has Mary Earps played for?

Before arriving at Manchester United in 2019, Earps, who made her senior debut in 2010, spent time playing for hometown club Nottingham Forest.

Earps also had stints at Bristol City, Doncaster Rovers Belles, Reading, and German giants Wolfsburg.

When did Mary Earps first appear for England?

Having waited patiently for her senior team bow, which came in Switzerland in June 2017, Earps became a regular fixture in the Lionesses squad.

She was named in a major tournament squad for the second time in a row when she went to the FIFA Women's World Cup in France in 2019.

In the summer of 2022, Earps played an integral part in England's success at the European Championships, keeping four clean sheets in six appearances at the tournament, and was named in UEFA's official Team of the Tournament.

In 2023, Earps produced one of the most iconic sporting moments of the year when she saved a penalty from Spain’s Jenni Hermoso in the World Cup.

She was voted England Women's Player of the Year for 2022-23 and even managed a fifth-placed finish in the Ballon d'Or.
